Heifer Albania’s mission is…to support, encourage and empower farmers’ communities in Albania to reduce poverty level toward a sustainable development of livestock farms through:
• gifting animals and improving farm technology
• collaborating with other partners that accept HPI philosophy
• providing technical assistance and training
• encouraging participatory leadership skills in the communities

What is the purpose of this project in Albania?The farmers don’t have the necessary financial means to develop their farms. Heifer Albania assists the farmers to develop their farms, increase and improve the animal breeds, assists to improve animal breeding and improve the income of the farmers’ families.

Heifer Albania’s HistoryIn 1996, Heifer International initiated the first project in Albania. Heifer Albania office was established in 1998. Today Heifer Albania involves 48 communities in 14 districts in Albania implementing 14 projects in rural areas.
Projects are basically focused on supporting rural areas facing high rate of unemployment, supporting small dairy farms, providing nutrition security to children with disabilities, improving animal breed, improving the environment and agroforestry, etc...
Heifer is the sole organization focused on livestock, operating in Albania so far. It provides real help for the farmers aiming to improve their life toward a sustainable development of farm and strengthening the community.
